“GayGlos Youth” started in July 2012, rapidly growing to a membership which has run at between 30-40 young people at any one time.
It provides young LGBTQ+ people aged 14-18 with a sense of identity and belonging, helping them to grow in confidence, self-esteem and happiness, both within the group and in the other communities within which they function, ie home, school, locality.
In recent years sessions have included:
-

-

-

All of which have added to the variety of the programme.
Meetings are held fortnightly, on alternate Saturdays, throughout the year including through school holiday periods between 11:45 and 15:00.
The location of meetings is not published, ensuring that it is a safe meeting place.
The programme of meetings is led by the needs and wishes of the young people themselves.
A significant and growing number of
Young People identify as being on the gender/trans-spectrum.
As part of most meetings now, a ‘gender group’ meets for the first 45 minutes so that Young People can discuss their issues and share experiences and suggested ways of dealing with difficulties that arise in their lives, be that at home, in school or more widely.
